Why do you list the amount of silicon on the label, instead of the amount of ch-OSA®?

In the USA, federal regulations require that we state the “elemental” or “theoretically pure” amount of each mineral in our product, and also disclose the form of that mineral. Thus we say silicon and ch-OSA® on our label. Each recommended dose of Biosil® contains 5 mg of elemental silicon in the form of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid.

The ch-OSA® complex has significant benefits over other forms of silicon because:

  1. Biosil®'s silicon is the most easily usable form for the body. Silicon in other forms must first be converted to OSA in order to be used. The conversion of other forms of silicon into OSA varies tremendously by person, and generally declines with age.
  2. Biosil®'s orthosilicic acid is stabilized with choline to prevent the OSA molecules from reacting with each other, or with other proteins or minerals in the body.
  3. Biosil®’s choline component helps transport OSA straight to collagen-generating cells. Without a “transport molecule” like choline, OSA must diffuse into collagen-generating cells—a much less efficient way to enter cells.
  4. Biosil®’s choline component neutralizes homocysteine, which degrades collagen and suppresses new collagen production.†
