  • Can I use separate billing and shipping addresses?

    Yes, of course you may have a billing address that's different from your shipping address. You can give us the correct addresses during the check-out process.

  • How do I reset my password?

    You can always reset your password by following these steps.

    You can delete your account in your account settings.

  • Can I have multiple products on one subscription?

    Each subscription allows for only one product type to be shipped.

    For instance, if you'd like to subscribe to both liquid capsules and drops, you will need to set up two separate subscriptions. (Of course you can manage them both using the same account, and same credit card.)

  • How do I update my subscription billing or shipping address?

    You can modify or cancel your subscription—including your address—after logging in to your Biosil® account. Follow these steps:

  • Can Biosil® work for women after menopause?

    Definitely. Biosil® is especially useful for women after menopause, when collagen and elastin levels often go through dramatic declines.

  • Does Biosil® work for men and women?

    Yes. The biological processes Biosil® supports are identical in women and men. Biosil® generates and protects collagen, elastin, and keratin—it has absolutely no impact on sex hormones.

  • Why is there choline in choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid?

    Biosil® employs our patented choline-stabilization technology because years of research have proven choline to be the ideal stabilizer of orthosilicic acid (OSA). Not only does choline stabilize OSA, it also has several vital biological benefits:

    1. Choline is a precursor of phospholipids, which are essential in building cell membranes.†
    2. Choline is involved in cell signalling (e.g., neurotransmitters like acetylcholine), liver health, and lipid metabolism.†
    3. Choline protects collagen from homocysteine, which is known to degrade collagen. Choline converts homocysteine into methionine, a beneficial amino acid.†

    In the USA, federal regulations require that we state the “elemental” or “theoretically pure” amount of each nutrient and disclose the form of that nutrient. Each recommended dose of Biosil® contains 100 mg of elemental choline in the form of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid.

  • Why do you list the amount of silicon on the label, instead of the amount of ch-OSA®?

    In the USA, federal regulations require that we state the “elemental” or “theoretically pure” amount of each mineral in our product, and also disclose the form of that mineral. Thus we say silicon and ch-OSA® on our label. Each recommended dose of Biosil® contains 5 mg of elemental silicon in the form of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid.

    The ch-OSA® complex has significant benefits over other forms of silicon because:

    1. Biosil®'s silicon is the most easily usable form for the body. Silicon in other forms must first be converted to OSA in order to be used. The conversion of other forms of silicon into OSA varies tremendously by person, and generally declines with age.
    2. Biosil®'s orthosilicic acid is stabilized with choline to prevent the OSA molecules from reacting with each other, or with other proteins or minerals in the body.
    3. Biosil®’s choline component helps transport OSA straight to collagen-generating cells. Without a “transport molecule” like choline, OSA must diffuse into collagen-generating cells—a much less efficient way to enter cells.
    4. Biosil®’s choline component neutralizes homocysteine, which degrades collagen and suppresses new collagen production.†
  • How does ch-OSA® work?

    First, ch-OSA® triggers the production of new collagen, keratin, and elastin.†

    Many collagen supplements are made of ground livestock (hooves, hide, scales, bones, and other meat byproducts), but even the plant-based or protein peptide supplements rely on the idea that you can increase your collagen levels by eating enough of it. However, when you eat collagen your body treats it like any other protein: it breaks it down and digests it as food. Instead of eating foreign, non-human collagen, taking ch-OSA® activates your own cells to produce fresh collagen, elastin, and keratin.†

    Secondly, ch-OSA® also protects your existing collagen, keratin, and elastin from degradation.†

    The choline in ch-OSA® is proven to neutralize homocysteine and regulate cortisol, two "anti-collagens" which destroy existing collagen and suppress new production. In this way, ch-OSA® protects existing elasticity and strength in your hair, skin, nails and bones.†

  • Where do the choline and silicon used in Biosil® come from?

    The silicon atoms in Biosil® originate from sand (silicon dioxide). The orthosilicic acid naturally found in mineral water likewise comes from sand. We have methods to derive orthosilicic acid from other sources, such as rice hulls or horsetail, but prefer sand for its purity—it contains fewer potential contaminants than plant sources.

    Our production process has three steps. First, we form single orthosilicic acid molecules (identical to those found in mineral water). Then we convert choline chloride free choline. Third, we combine the choline and orthosilicic acid into choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid complex.

    The choline stabilizes the orthosilicic acid molecules by preventing them from reacting with each other, or with proteins or other minerals in the body. Equally importantly, choline also helps transport orthosilicic acid straight to the body' collagen-generating cells, as well as protecting collagen from homocysteine.†

  • What is ch-OSA?

    ch-OSA® is a uniquely effective complex that activates the body's production of collagen, elastin, and keratin. It also has properties that protect existing collagen and elastin from damage. Clinical trials have found that taking ch-OSA® produces noticeable effects all over the body, including skin, hair, nails, joints, and bones.†

    ch-OSA® is a combination of two components:

  • How do I get a receipt?

    After your order has been completed, your receipt will be emailed to you at the email address you've provided. If you didn’t receive the receipt, please check your spam folder. Customers who have a subscription will also receive their receipts on a monthly basis by email.

  • When will I be charged for my order?

    Payments for one-time orders are charged immediately upon confirmation.

    Payments for subscription orders begin processing after midnight Eastern Time (or 00:00 ET on the pre-defined day that you have set (UTC-4)).

  • Do you charge sales tax?

    We comply with American tax regulations by charging sales tax on orders as required. Any state or local sales tax will be added to your total when you enter your shipping details during check out. (In other words: the prices on the website don't include sales tax.)

  • What is the difference between Biosil® liquid drops, Biosil® capsules and Biosil® liquid capsules? Is one better than the other?

    Biosil® comes in three different forms, but each provide identical results. It's up to you: you might prefer the convenience of a capsule, or enjoy the ritual of adding the drops to fresh water with lemon.

    ch-OSA® forms naturally as a liquid, as you can see in Biosil® liquid drops and Biosil® liquid capsules. Biosil® capsules also contain ch-OSA® liquid, but in micro-droplet form.

  • Do Biosil® liquid drops absorb faster than Biosil® capsules?

    The human body absorbs all three forms of Biosil® equally, and they are equally effective. This is because the active ingredient, ch-OSA®, and pharmacokinetic properties are identical in all three forms: liquid, capsule, or liquid capsule.

  • What does Biosil® smell and taste like?

    Biosil® is 100% vegan, with no allergens or animal products, but we are the first to admit that the choline in ch-OSA® has a characteristic fishy odour. Rather than masking this with artificial scents or flavors, we've always opted to keep the ingredient list as short as possible.

  • Should I store Biosil® in the refrigerator?

    Biosil® doesn’t need to be refrigerated, even after opening. Of course you can keep it in there anyway, if you like.

  • How long does it take to see results?

    The studies we base our marketing claims on ran for the following time periods:

    • Skin: 20 weeks
    • Nails: 20 weeks & 6 months
    • Hair: 20 weeks, 6 months & 9 months
    • Joints: 12 weeks
    • Bones: 1 year

    Generally, people will notice some improvement to their hair, skin, nails and joints within 3 months.

    However, there is significant interpatient variability in response time.

    Standard biochemical individuality factors such as age, diet, genetics, exercise habits and other lifestyle factors will impact response times. As an example, patients with higher levels of compounds known to damage collagen or suppress collagen production such as homocysteine, cortisol, sugar (glycation) and advanced glycation end products and free radicals will often take longer than others. Also, patients with underlying diseases impacting collagen metabolism such as hypothyroidism, anemia or other low iron or iron metabolism issues, and/or autoimmune challenges may take longer to notice results.†

    Yes, we test every batch of Biosil® for heavy metals, including lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium. We also test for a variety of microbiology parameters.

    In addition, Biosil® is certified by ISURA, Canada’s only independent natural health supplement and food product verification and certification organization. ISURA does mass spectrometry and non-GMO testing, and confirms that Biosil® is free of GMOs and over 600 potential contaminants (i.e., pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, etc.)

  • Does Biosil® contain allergens?

    No, Biosil® is free of common allergens including soy, dairy, egg, corn, wheat, gluten, fish/shellfish, nuts/tree nuts. If you have any specific concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Is Biosil® FDA-approved?

    Biosil® was introduced for sale in the USA in 1994 and meets or exceeds all FDA requirements for dietary supplements. The FDA inspects our manufacturing facility in Belgium, and also inspects and approves Biosil® products for sale upon their arrival in the USA. The FDA reviews all of our claims substantiations, ingredients and safety practices prior to approving our products.

    In Europe, the European Food Safety Authority, considered by many to be one of the most stringent review panels in the world, has reviewed and approved ch-OSA®. Their written opinion deeming ch-OSA® safe and bioavailable can be found online here.

    In Canada, Health Canada's rigorous new regulatory program has granted Biosil® products Natural Product Numbers after evaluating our scientific support, and confirming safety and claims substantiation (Biosil® Capsules: NPN 80023605; Biosil® Liquid Drops: NPN 800005878.)

  • Is it okay to take Biosil® with a collagen powder/product?

    Yes, it's fine to take Biosil® alongside collagen and/or collagen peptide supplements. These products work very differently from one another, but are potentially complementary.

    Biosil® contains choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid, a uniquely effective complex clinically proven to activate collagen production and protect existing collagen levels. Biosil® works primarily by activating and supporting the enzymes your body naturally uses to make collagen.

    Collagen supplements, on the other hand, do not activate these enzymes. However, they may be a source of the amino acids that are used as raw material for new collagen. As well, collagen peptides might be absorbed intact into cells, and might somehow signal the body to try to make new collagen. But in both cases, a specific series of enzymes must be activated to build new collagen. Collagen and collagen peptides do not activate these enzymes, Biosil® does.

  • Can I take Biosil® with other supplements?

    Yes. There are no known contraindications between Biosil® and any other supplements.

  • Can I take Biosil® with prescription drugs?

    There are no known contraindications between Biosil® and any prescription medication. As a precaution, we do suggest that you take Biosil® at least one hour before or after these or any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.

  • Does Biosil® have any side effects?

    Biosil® is generally very well-tolerated. No side effects have been reported in clinical studies using Biosil®. Since 1994, a few of our customers have reported reactions which suggest they are extremely sensitive to choline (the essential B vitamin-like nutrient that stabilizes the orthosilicic acid in ch-OSA®). Common signs of too much choline can include symptoms like GI distress (i.e. constipation, nausea, and/or diarrhea), accelerated heart rate (including heart palpitations), and nervousness.

    According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 90% of Americans don’t get enough choline in their diet. The average American women eats 260 mg of choline per day (men eat roughly 400 mg, on average). The recommended daily dose of Biosil® (two capsules or ten drops) adds 200 mg, for a total of 460 or 600 mg of choline per day, by gender. This is just slightly above the adequate intake recommended by the Food and Nutrition Board (425 mg for women, 550 mg for men) and is usually a very good dose. This is well below the upper tolerable limit for choline, which is 3500 mg per day for both women and men.

    Most people benefit from the choline in Biosil®. However, very rarely, some can be extremely sensitive to it. In rare cases where choline sensitivity is a problem, taking Biosil® with food can help soothe the symptoms. Also, lowering the dose is often effective.

  • Is Biosil® Safe for Minors/What is the are requirement to take Biosil®?

    Biosil® has not been studied in children. Although there is no evidence suggesting Biosil® supplementation is a risk for children, because of the absence of factual information, Biosil® shouldn't be given to children under the age of 7 unless advised by a qualified health care professional.

  • Can I take both of my daily doses at once?

    Because Biosil® is water-soluble, it’s most effective to split your doses up to keep your ch-OSA® levels consistently high throughout the day. That said, years of customer feedback have shown us that many people can and do take both doses at once without problems.

    You should be aware that a very small subset of people with extreme sensitivity to choline may notice side effects if they choose to take both doses at once. If you take both doses at once, monitor for the symptoms of choline sensitivity, such as: GI distress, accelerated heart rate, and nervousness.

    Choline is an essential nutrient similar to B vitamins, and is very safe. Taking your Biosil® dose as recommended, or with food, will generally prevent these rare symptoms from occurring.

  • Can I mix my Biosil® liquid drops in any kind of beverage?

    Of course. Our customers often tell us they add their five drops to all sorts of drinks: juice, protein shakes, lemon water. We've done stability studies to ensure that ch-OSA® is stable through pasteurization processes, as well as in hot beverages like coffee and tea. Take your Biosil® drops according to your taste.

  • Is it safe to take BioSil® on an ongoing basis?

    Yes. After more than 30 years and $30 million invested in research & development, studies have shown that there are no safety concerns for BioSil® when taken as directed.

    BioSil® is a complex that contains two nutrients (both standardly found in food) that are required by the body: choline and orthosilicic acid. Because we require orthosilicic acid in order to produce collagen, taking an OSA supplement daily is prudent.

  • How do I decide on the frequency of delivery for my subscription?

    Calculate that you'll be taking one capsule in the morning and one in the evening. This means that you'll need 60 capsules every 4 weeks (1 month). Alternately, you can choose to receive 120 capsules every 8 weeks (2 months).

    As for drops, you'll take five drops in the morning, and five in the evening, which means that every 8 weeks you'll want a bottle containing 1 fluid ounce, or 30ml, of BioSil® liquid.

    For HerHarmony, a tub contains 30 servings, you take one a day.

    As for the Hair Growth Formula, the bottle contains a 30 day supply.

  • Can I have multiple subscriptions to different addresses?

    Yes, for each subscription in your account, you’re welcome to enter a new address.

  • Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

    You can cancel at any time. If you cancel 24 hours before the start of your next subscription cycle, your subscription will end and your payment method will not be charged. (Your subscription cycle's start date is visible in your account.)

    There are no hidden or extra fees. Shipping is free within the USA for all subscription orders and all orders over $50.

  • Why am I responding so slowly to Biosil®?

    There is significant variation in response time between people taking Biosil®. Age, diet, genetics, exercise habits, and other lifestyle factors will impact your response time.

    For example, patients with higher levels of compounds known to damage collagen, or suppress collagen production—such as homocysteine, cortisol, sugar (glycation), advanced glycation end products, and free radicals—will often respond more slowly than others. As well, people with underlying diseases impacting collagen metabolism—such as hypothyroidism, anemia, low iron, iron metabolism issues, and/or autoimmune challenges—may take longer to notice results.
